I first saw this wonderful film just after it had been completed. I was 15 and it influenced me so much I can still recall every detail and am delighted to find it is still available for other to see. Five years later I went inot the film business as a BBC trainee and have spenty the rest of my life making filkms all over the world. I am now 70 and still in awe of the wonderful people who made Foothold On Antarctica! John Burder April 2011

If you read up a little about it, it blew for them too. Weather was crap at weeks at a time, and they had a good amount of supplies float off on them.
However, they survived, and did a damn good job at it.

Wow, I would not want to be one of the men who had to stay behind.

Re staying behind, there is actually a book on that - "8 men in a crate". Not sure if it is still in print, but it was an interesting read"
