I grew up on 18th Ave in the late 50's &60's, got married in the Oriental Manor, took the 'B' train to work every day, owned a house near Bay 50th.
The neighborhood was safe, we stayed away from the projects and they stayed where they belonged.
They started with 'integration'. I wasn't sending my little girl to no school in fuckin' Africa!
Hello NJ! Couldn't get my ol' man to leave Brooklyn, though. He said 'I came all the way here from the other side & I ain't goin no morer'.

I grew up right on 86th st. The 70's and 80's were when it was the best times. Tommy's pizza, Jahn's, empress deli and safety drugs. When the neighborhood was clean because of Gotti.
it's not the same place anymore.
