An instrumental I pieced together based on the playing of Dutch guitarwizz Ton Van Bergeyk, Tampa Red and especially the "way afhead of his time" Lonnie Johnson.

Lonnie Johnson recorded several instrumentals like this between 1927-1932. His recordings of this period are well worth having.

Ton Van Bergeyk recorded several lp's for Stefan Grossman's label "Kicking Mule" during the 70ies. These fantastic lp's will be reissued by Stefan soon; the first one "Ragtime Instrumentals" is already avalable at his site (just google the name).
Unfortunately Ton quit fingerstyle guitar in the 80ies; he's a member of the Dutch Swing College Band now.

I'm in dropped D tuning and playing my L-00 copy made by John Gréven.

I uploaded this song already last year called "Acoustic blues in D and E" but it was out of sync and glued together with a slide instrumental; so here it is again but in sync.

  • awesome picking!!!!

  • great guitarplay

  • Just super badass!!!!

  • Some amazing right hand patterns going on there, and really great timing coming off your stretches and keeping that alternating bass line steady. I've been finger picking a long time, and am impressed! I'll subscribe, keep 'em coming!

  • eres un fenómeno...solo queria decir eso...

  • muito bom!!!!

  • I watch you playing whilst I handle my jaw up not to dote my keyboard... I admire you a lot.

  • Wow How.. I wish I could do that.

  • Also good sound from the guitar. Sounded great with the bare fingers. I prefer using my bare thumb and fingers for some reason. I just like the sort of dubbing from the thumb. Well I started to fingerpick without picks so I'll stick with it. All the best.

  • Nice playing man.
