CMS Stage Band - Enter Sandman

Gillian gets her first guitar solo, under difficult circumstances. She was actually in the trumpet section for this song, but the band's guitarist, who'd been practicing this guitar-driven song with the band since September, broke his wrist the day before the show. He's the understandably sullen young chap sitting behind and to the left of Gillian. Gillian found out about his misfortune the morning of that evening's concert and immediately seized her opportunity to step in, as freaked out as she was by the prospect of playing guitar for the first in front of a large audience (400+). She came home from school and went to her room to practice til her fingers bled, then she went to her regularly scheduled guitar lesson, where her teacher encouraged and coached her on this song, which they'd not ever worked on previously. Then, she went immediately to the concert, where the band practiced the tune a bit with their new guitarist. Poor Jared, the injured guitarist, was as supportive as he could be in his disappointment, and Wade Hendricks, the music teacher sitting next to Gillian, helped calm Gillian's nerves and manage her amp settings. She did great, and most important of all, she had the guts and desire to grab this tiger by the tail and take it for a ride....

BTW, the camera's battery died literally 10 seconds after she completed her part, capturing that look of distraught relief (if there is such a thing) as its finally frames...the band continued (very well) with the song, but Gillian was done.
