if you don't want to experience any of these problems just buy it from the internet to come pre-built

what would i need to buy to make my desktop a gaming one?
-
@airsoftextreme143 lol, i learned that the hard way, luckily it was on an old 2003 computer that i was throwing out anyway, its too bad tho, that one was my favorite, i learned to build computers by taking it apart and putting it back together, then our wood floors were replaced with carpet and now i have to use newer computers that i live in fear of breaking, lol

should i run the install cd first?

i got a new video card for my PC. the old one is integrated so its not removable, so i just plugged hte new one in the only port i saw. when i turned the computer on 1 it wouldnt read off the new port, had to plug it into old one. and 2 my computer when into repare mode. did i do something severly wrong?
i have a problem. i installed my ati diamond stealth pci version graphics card. but i tried to turn in on and the loud humming noise that usually goes away after a few seconds is still humming loudly. my mouse doesnt work and the monitor doesnt show anything. whats wrong and how do i fix it?

I looked up your graphics card, and the humming you are probably hearing is the fans on your graphics cards spooling up...that is not going to change, the fans will go when the GPU is overheating.
As far as your monitor not showing anything, did you plug it into the old monitor port or the new one you just installed? And if you did plug in the monitor correctly, most of the time, you have to disable the onboard graphics card (assuming you have one) by going into the device manager.

As far as your mouse goes, that is an unrelated issue to the monitor. The only thing I can suggest is trying to remember if you installed anything (hardware or program) that may have a conflict with either your mouse IRQ or drivers in general. For instance, maybe you installed another Human Interface Device such as joystick?

how do i know what type of card will fit in my computer?
I had gotten an ati radeon agp and it doesn't fit in either compaq computer.
My graphics is Intel Media Accelerator 3100 for computer with Vista.

AGP = Accelerated Graphics Port
Which means that it is a dedicated bus specifically for a graphics card. It will be a little bar on your motherboard that is probably seperate from the others.
Best way to figure it out though is to look up your motherboard model (which can be done via looking at the information in the BIOS or looking up your computer model, and finding out that way.)
If your AGP card won't fit, try a PCI card...it will be a bit slower, but faster than your old one.

alrite i have a newer hp rite now .... theres 2 white slots like on the video and a black slot ... well in one of the white slots is a chip about 1 inch by 4 inches.... - is that my graphics card????

Depending on your computer, the graphics card may be integrated.
What that means is that the video card is built-in the motherboard and you cannot take it out. However, you can add more because of those slots that you see. If you have an integrated graphics card you don't have to worry about taking anything out. You just have to make sure the monitor is plugged in the right port, and the old graphics card is turned off through your hardware wizard.
