well my 63 twin reverb @ 135 watts was an awesome amp. used the speakers from my randall rg 135, incredible ! the biggest mistake I ever made was selling that amp. Dick Dale RULES!!

@alejandro15187: actually on the 50's tweed amps the volume (& tone) went up to '12' (but they were still not anywhere ~near~ as loud as the Showman ;).
-
whew! and then some.

I had that same amp I got from his amp tech. Boy do I feel like an idiot for selling it. Brown face 1962 with 2xJBL D-130s. I would give left nut to have that amp back.

before Dick and Leo the speakers and amps around just were not powerful enough to handle anything past 3 or 4. salesmen would trick kids by setting them at 3 and saying look at how loud this is at 3 then they would buy them and realize the sound would be distorted past that. Speakers and amps peaked at around 20 to 30 watts until Leo and Dick created the duel showman amps and JBL Speakers peaking at 180 watts that's why dick is the first person to hit 10 and is considered the father of loud

Maybe not 10 but Leo Fender himself developed a 100 watt amp for Dick Dale.

I talked with Dick Dale a couple of times; he's a great guy!
While Hendrix also played left handed, he like most other left handed guitarists (including myself), re-string their guitar so the high E string is closest to your feet. Dick Dale is one of the few who plays left, without reversing the strings, so high E is on top, and low E on the bottom. He is totally unique and awesome....

amazing, the intro sounded like a million chandaliers all crashing together. I read he was the reason Fender started putting 10 on all their volume knobs of their amps, before dale they just went to 5. Anyone want to verify or disprove? I could probably go to wikipedia but for the sake of discussion I'll let someone else check it out/ LONG LIVE DALE'S MUSIC!!!

He learned to play on a right handed guitar. He is left handed, did'nt have enough money as a kid to purchase a left hand guitar.
-
Wtf?! Does he string his guitar upside down? O_O
-
He helped invent that amp, iirc...

What's cool is that both his guitar and amps are original. The Strat is from 1955, and the Fender Dual Showmans he's using are from the early 60s
Dick Dale is the KING!
