The 24th annual Meet-the-Artists Exhibit opens at The Indianapolis Public Library's Central Library on February 3, 2012. Jon Barnes of the Library's Communications Department talks to two participants, Tony Radford, the event's longtime curator, and D. Delreverda-Jennings, a local artist and author. The exhibit runs thru March 31 and features the work of prominent local African-American artists. The public is invited to a free gala event at Central Library on Saturday, February 18 from 5PM to 10PM featuring the artists with their work displayed and available for purchase. In addition there will be performances by the Griot Drum Ensemble, poet Mijiza Soyini, the Vickie Daniel and Friends jazz and blues band, and the Krash Krew dancers. A number of local authors will also be on hand to sell and sign copies of their books, and a fashion show will complete the program. The exhibit and gala celebration are sponsored by the Library's African-American History Committee.
