John Close, born in London in 1947, was a talented musician and songwriter. He was diagnosed with MND (Motor Neurone Disease) in March 2001 and died by assisted suicide on 26th May 2003 at a Dignitas apartment in Zurich, Switzerland, aged 55 years.
After being evicted from rented accommodation in Milton Keynes, John lived in a care home in Leighton Buzzard for a few weeks. He celebrated his birthday with a party there in September 2002. John and his sister, Lesley, play guitar and his friends join in, singing 'Star on the Horizon', one of John's many compositions.
