  • A person who is antisocial is actually a psychopath, according to the DSM-V. Avoidants are not normally antisocial. In fact, they care very much what people think of them.

  • Yeah, I pointed it out in the video. I'm not putting the two disorders together if that's what you think.

  • Hmmm, I've never heard of AvPD, but as for me, I am a shy person in real-life, and I don't really talk alot, and I find it hard to make real-life friends most times mainly for fear of being rejected or being looked down on by others, I don't know if you'd consider that antisocial, however, I am a friendly person though.

    Thanks for the video. ;)

  • Thanks and no problem. :-)

  • WTH?

was that david acrchuleta singing in the background?

    anyways, nice video. Nice information.

  • Yes, that was David Archuleta. ;-)

    Thanks! :-)

  • I have Asperger's Disorder and never have been good with socializing. I wonder if AvPD could be comorbid with people who are on the autistic disorders spectrum.

  • I'm shy, and I'm in 7th grade. I hate being shy, I WANT FRIENDS AND ATLEAST A LITTLE POPULARITY. :(

  • @clover220 Just as an aside, people in general make too much of having a boy/girlfriend at an early age. Don't stress over it. You're 18. Have fun with your life. People are a pain in the ass, and their opinion of you is NOT more important than YOUR opinion of you. So if they say something mean, just focus on how little they actually matter and don't worry about it. I admit that advice might be easier said than done. But try it.

  • Is this disorder often mistaken for Asperger's Syndrome?

  • great video. i have AvPD and i am a sociopath. a sociopath is somone who is extremely antisocial and doesn't really have a conscience. i also have ADHD and BPD-borderline personality disorder. i don't have any friends much less a girlfriend and i was hoping to meet some people that would accept me for who i am. if you subscribe to my channel that would be great. thx.

  • Having this disorder is like having a demon controlling your mind. I care too much about what other people think. I hate giving a speech in front of class, I hate myself for not being like everyone else, and there's this voice inside of me that says I wish I didn't exist. People nowadays are a pain in the ass. That's why I don't socialize for fear of rejection, people think I'm weird just because I never had a boyfriend and I'm still a virgin at 18. It's hard. I just don't like people.

  • I've had all the symptoms of this disorder since my mid-teens and I'm sick of it. It rules my life. I haven't been diagnosed with it yet, but I'm off to see a therapist next week...Somehow I don't think a few therapy sessions will erase 15 years of abusive parenting, but here's hoping...Nice backing music by the way. Cover of "John Farnham: The Voice". It's practically an Anthem in Australia :)

  • @lizzchoate

The DSMV-TR isn't released yet... If you meant DSM IV-TR, it might be listed as anxious personality disorder. It's definitely there in cluster C :)

  • This 'disorder' is not in the DSMV-TR....all that is in there is avoidance behavior associated with anxiety, depression, and other abnormalities. Where did you learn about this as a 'disorder'?

  • This is the worst song I've ever heard.
