We got a larva and two female stag beetles, Dorcus rectus in the rotting deciduous wood. The temperature here in Kanto area Japan now in Winter is about 5 degree C daytime. I took this video in Jan.23, 2011.

  • Very nice! Any tips as to collecting Dorcus species? We get 2 of them here and I have found D. brevis.

  • I have made this part of my lunch when I was in south america, HUGE beetle larve we collected and it was not bad at all. It's natural and full of proteins. I will go back maby next year, or come to where u are now, thailand? I want go visit indonesia too soon. I like u all work in nature, nive vid thanks.
