Sarah recorded this video on 13th May 2011, exactly two years after she suffered a stroke at the age of 18 when she was reading aloud in an English class at school. Sarah has Broca's Aphasia which affects speech, reading and writing. This is the third video showing Sarah's progress so far.

  • great job sarah! keep riding :) horses are the besttt therapy

  • @heykatieg thank you, yes, horses are magical!

  • It's amazing that as soon as Sarah starts writing or when she's about to write, her brain remembers the word. There must be some motor-brain connection there

  • @Marmalade000000 yes, it prompts her, but not always. It's great when it happens!

  • I just watched all your videos that you have on Youtube. Sarah's Story is very inspiring. My father in law had stroke year ago. I wish, he would be so optimistic as Sarah is! She did amazing progress! I wish her all the best. I hope. you will record her progress, so everybody can see how amazing she is! Take care. Sincerely, Pavlina Dropka

  • Thank you so much for posting. My wife Sarah has aphasia following a traumatic brain injury 12 years ago, she just wanted me to tell you that after her injury she went on to have a family and now has 2 girls now aged 10 and 7 and they are gorgeous and well she just wanted you to know that

  • This is amazing, Sarah's story is really inspiring, I wish her all the best in recovery =D

  • Huge difference in the videos, so great job, Sarah! I think this is so wonderful, and I hope you keep us updated as to her progress. Also, I noticed from a comment on another video that you were awaiting surgery a while back for a stroke of your own - I hope your recovery goes just as well as Sarah's has! Please keep us updated :)

  • I can see the difference between the first video and this! Keep on smiling! :)

  • Thank you Sarah for being inspring. I'm 26 and had a head injury 18 months ago. Have mild aphasia, I can't read (comprehension) but can write ok. Can't go back to my profession due to my difficulties but the SLP and OT are helping. Aphasia is so frustrating, how do you communicate with strangers? Even with mild aphasia I find myself getting frustrated when I can't get the word and even more so when strangers get impatient.

  • Sarah, keep working hard, you have come so far already.

  • Sarah, you're inspiring!!! I wish you all the best and since I'm a teacher I would like to talk about you in my class... don't give up, you said so, it's all a matter of attitude :D Thank you very much!!! :D

  • So beautiful...

  • @markstevens20869 Sarah had a research MRI last week in London and it was amazing to see how large the damage was. It was localised to the Broca area as far as the neurologist could see, but we're waiting for a more detailed report.
