Heathers - Heather Duke vs. Veronica

Also, in high school, teens are usually very vulnerable and will put up with anything to be popular, it's just human nature. The whole movie is about standing up to people who intimidate you, and Veronica was strong enough, which I was glad to see.

I love Winona's character because Veronica is so complex. She stands up after initially playing the Heathers' games, but only really does stand up to get herself off the hook in my opinion. I liked the fact that she was hardly a saint but you felt that she was struggling as a sinner... not an easy role for a 17-year-old to have played, the cast were all outstanding.

Heather Duke is telling the truth when she says that Betty Finn would not be hanging out with her "dweebette friends" if her "fairy godmother made her cool." Even though people like the Heathers do mean things, if you were in their position, you might get "drunk" on your own power. When people get accepted by a powerful group, they begin to think they deserve and are better than other people.
