Fire Drill that took place at my current work location today at 10 AM. It's an addressable Notifier system with Notifier BGX-101L pulls and classic System Sensor SpectrAlert horn/strobes in code-3. It appears that signals that are in the same area are synced together (as you see in the beginning) but those in separate areas/rooms are not (as you can see in the cafeteria at :34). Also in the building is a room protected with an ansul system that has Wheelock MTs (newer version) and MB-G6 motor bells. I have heard this go off before, but it did not trip the building system (at least alarm-wise).

I start out heading in one direction at :07, but then one of my supervisors calls out my name and tells me to follow her. We head into the cafeteria and then out the exit in that room. We leave the building rather quick, but our assembly spot is all the way on the other side of the building, and being a rather long building, it does take several minutes to get to the assembly location. All in all, the drill takes about 10 minutes to conduct and we did have numerous fire officials on the spot to supervise the drill.

I also apologize for the shakiness of the vid, but I assure you, I was NOT shaking very much and plus, the iPhone 4 not having a stabilization feature like normal cameras do doesn't help. I did try to use the YouTube stabilization function, but it distorts the picture so badly you can't see things very clearly, so i just kept the original vid.

With that said, enjoy.

  • how loud is this alarm at 10 feet away?

  • @craZ4thrills People were saying "ugh, that's loud." but compared to other horns, I thought it was rather quiet. Like you can actually walk by it and not need to plug your ears.

  • was the alarm going off before you started filming

  • @firekid22222 Yes, i didn't know about this drill, so several rounds went off before I started recording.

  • @weatherdan882002

    Are you college.

  • @JackAlarm No, I graduated college in May of 2010. Right now I'm just trying to find work wherever I can that doesn't involve retail, which basically means data entry jobs. It just so happens that while at this particular job there happened to be a planned fire drill on this day.

  • I do NOT like the loud sound of fire alarms. Well, loud in, quiet out. I got used to it a little bit in 3rd grade. Plus, when i'm plugging my ears & standing under it, it's quiet.

  • That place likes SpectrALert haha. I do too! Hopefully getting at System Sensor Strobe only (due to my sensative hearing.)

  • ugh that scared me when it went off.

  • @weatherdan882002 Yeah, I have a SpectrAlert Classic as well, and it surprisingly isn't that loud, at least when I set it on low volume and Code-3.
