Unfortunately for Chopra, He has to water-down and sugar coat the truths and principles to go down to the levels of modern man, in fear of scrutiny and for a more entertaining flavor and in satisfying the audience. Once a very great mahatma of our modern generation said, that to speak and retell the sacred storied of the Lord, there is no need to satisfy the taste bud of listeners in order for it to make it's potency work, the Lord's pastimes are pure and needs no sugar coating to take effect.

MINDBLOWING work of art... Finally we have something to be at par with the world standards in animation.. (I hope they will make a movie on it.. what a movie would that be !!!). And to all the religion biased puritans- re-creating an epic in the form of a comic doesnt mean destroying the essence of the epic itself.Rather I would say the Ramayan is globally way more popular than it used to be; thanks to their efforts. If you dont like the idea, dont read the comic..as simple as that..

who wants to hear what this asshole says.....he is a fucking charlatan, who use jargons and conciousness stuff and try to show off.

Nice comic, i love the artwork. Nice representation of Indian warriors, its high time we had something like this. As for the Indians talking bad about this idea. You bloody Indians with your conservative mindset are what keeps India backward, go to hell.

@AcidDrippa Sir although Mr Banker's attempt is to be applauded(after all he made his version modern while still respecting the sanctity of Ramayan ) one can hardly say he has given a " Realistic" feel to it , far from realistic his books paint a more fantastic picture.Kids will love it.
If you want something realistic may I suggest THE RAMA SAGA by Dr. Ramanath Tripathi ISBN 81-88643-05-X

Well , I dont seem to agree that Ramayan is equal to LOR , or that its just a story , Indian Sages have believed Ramayana to be an Itihas and not a puran ( In puran there are many metaphorical stories along with those which really happened) , Itihas means something which really happened . Why not accept what Sages like Chaitanya,Ramanuja,Bhagwan Vallabhacharya,Raghvendra ect.tell us and let it be.Afterall ramayan is a creation of Indian sages.

If Rama had been a Warrior, which he was, according to Sage Valmiki, he would not been a plump hypocrite as depicted in the 1980s' Hypocrite Doordarshan serial 'Ramayan'. BUT HE MUST HAVE BEEN ***EXACTLY*** LIKE SHEKAR KAPUR AND DEEPAK CHOPRA HAVE SHOWN IN "3392AD". Other than that as an Indian living in India, I love and respect Indian Traditions MINUS IT'S HYPOCRICY.

@dine4uonly Some funny math you come up with! FYI, Ashok Banker also has done a re-telling of the Ramayana, giving it a much more realistic feel to it. It can very easily be compared to the "type" of storytelling in Lord of the Rings. And what is wrong with that?More people read it, connect with it, understand it. You are just blinded by your religious fanaticism, mindless "coolie" ! Its time you "cooled" your ass or head, whichever comes first! Probably the same!
It REALLY looks aweseome, I'm glad that Indians can now hold something to compete with what is otherwise a japanese and american dominated scene.
But if its at a cost of belittling our traditions and the sacred works that are the Ramayan, I'll take a pass on it.
Other than that I'm FUCKING sick and tired of, people talking about Hindu beleifs as "mythos", thanks for respecting my traditions.

Everyone interpretes religion his or her own way. The Ramayan doesn't have only one interpretation. The depth and different layers of the philosophy is what makes it so great. Let Chopra be. He's providing a positive interpretation as far as I can tell, and that can't do much harm now, can it?
