I saw Maynard Ferguson and his Band play in the Mid 1960's, and nobody before or after him could consistently reach notes in the Stratosphere like this highly talented and gifted Canadian Horn Player. He is the Standard by which all trumpet players must be judged. RIP Maynard, as many of your fans still adore your music.

@MJRoxForever Amen and Amen. I'm in tears for the genius and beauty that Mr. Fugerson was able to bring to this world in so many different forums, but most especially in those that honored the greatness that exists in our most heroic and honorable people. Thank you God Almighty for the talents of Mr. Maynard Ferguson.

My Dad loved this song...he used to sing it all of the time. I love Maynard....what a beautiful combo--Dad's favorite song and my favorite trumpeter playing it. I miss them both. Thanks for posting.

I lived right down the street from Howard Rumsey's Lighthouse in Hermosa beach CA and saw maynard several times (late 60s). I'll never forget the first time he did this piece; who says grown men don't get teary?? I was equally captivated my Willy Maiden's sax solo on it.
Thank's for this post; brings back fond memories.

Nothing like the sound of the Boss. Nobody, ever, can reach the art of Maynard. He was the only one. I hate that trumpeteer that attempt to play like he was but their sounds is awful, so little and...they no have the heart of the Boss.
Mikey, BEAUTIFUL tribute! I am featuring it today on the Maynard Ferguson site on Facebook. I hope you are pleased!! :) It brings me to tears... thank you!!
