  • @Lordgaraj "dato" essentially means "guess". It doesn't really make sense on its own, but where they both say "dato omou", that means "I think that...". So applying 'dato omou' to both of their sentences, Rubicante's sentence would be the "I think I'm the sexiest...", and Sarmiglione's sentence would be "I thought I was Scarmiglione of the poison?

  • @Cavistus729 Scarmiglione's line to Kainattso uses "dato" as well. "oresaa, tsuchi no SUKARUMIRYO~NE tsu~ka doku no SUKARUMIRYO~NE dato omoundakedo...?"

  • @Cavistus729 That makes sense. You've been a great help and i appreciate your time, if I could ask just one more question? What does "dato" mean in the context of Rubicante's line to Barbariccia? "Shi Shitennou no naka de watashi ga ichiban SEKUSHI~ dato omoundaga?" he doesn't actually say "dato" and when I look it up it's translated as "dirt." Can it also be used as a particle?

  • @Lordgaraj it's not a compound word, it's just how japanese grammar works. :P

a straight translation of "shiyoukashira" would be "I wonder if I should", or something to that degree. it's one of those things that doesn't make sense if it's by itself

  • @Cavistus729 I meant しようかしら. It's been a long day at work. Sorry.

  • @Cavistus729 So it's a compound word? I got the translation for the entire song into English, but my limited study of Japanese made translating "仕様かしら" difficult. Thanks for your help! :)

  • What does shiyoukashira mean? I put it into google and the internet just shrugged back at me. Only clue I got is kashira means "I wonder..." if you're female.
