@bunker2k1 How do you argue with the facts? Be a Democrat! LOL. I've just heard they had the same guts inside. Sounds like something fundamentally different though.

@SteelWolf13 all that i can tell you is my yaesu tuner didnt tune some of my wire antennas but my ldg tuner did. cant argue with the facts.

@bunker2k1 how does the yaesu tuner suck? the LDG tuner has the exat same guts inside. just a different tag on the box.

I love my 897 only bad things are the meter is so small,but i have the ldg external now work fine, the 2nd thing is the yaesu matching tuner, IT SUCKS dont buy it get a ldg auto tuner instead

I am really thinking about purchasing this rig. Is it possible to to hook this rig up with 12/13v power source without having to purchase the FP30 power supply??

g5rv jr. for 10 through 40 meters and comet tri band for 2m and 70 cm No room for anything bigger but it works really good as far as I'm concerned.

I chose the 897d as a first rig base station because I knew I might want to go portable at some point so this radio made perfect sense to me. I love mine. I also have the antenna tuner and 120 volt power supply.
