"CarnEvil" Running Smoothly On Mame Arcade Machine

Recently upgraded my Mame cabinet's computer. 2.8Ghz, 2 GB Ram, Onboard ATI card running Soft15Khz. This is one game I have been waiting a long time to play. It runs perfectly now. It's difficult to play with a joystick, but hey, it's playable. Mame's settings are all default. Nothing special about the settings.Check it out.

What version of MAME are you using please. I got 0.140 and 0.138 amd the sound is horrible.

Are u running a quad core? Intel or amd? I'm running a P4 at 3.06 Ghz with hyperthreading and the game is not nearly this smooth and has choppy sound.

@applefanboy3000 It's AMD X2. Try checking "triple buffering" and "auto frame skip". See if that helps.

Would anyone mind putting up a vid on how to put the rom together to work (chd files and all) I haven't had any luck getting this rom to work for me yet!!

@onetime188 What happens and what are you doing? Do you have the CHD UN-ZIPPED and in the roms folder with the roms?

@jackyesyes2000 Yeah, that's a calibration problem. The silly game doesn't come pre-calibrated the first time you play it. To calibrate it, go into Service Mode (y'know, the F2 key). There's a calibration option, and regardless if you're using a lightgun or a mouse for gameplay, it's wiser to use a mouse for more accurate calibration. And then, presto! The game works!

I thought mame only used a single cpu core...

Maybe because you are running a tv-res and he is playing on an newer lcd?

@YourMKArcadeSource thanks for the reply I tried your suggestions and the game is running much better and has a much higher framerate!! The sound is still bad tho, what are your sound settings?
