Clean hit. He wouldn't have been hurt hadn't the glass broke, and he was gliding after the goal line. It wasn't from behind either, they were both going for the puck.

PLaying defence in AA, the only advice I could give was instead of going straight in like that, take a few steps to the side a curl in, so u have a better view of whos coming and if there is a hit it wouldn't be from behind.

That wasn't a clean hit, count the # of strides (at least 6) taken to hit him. Checking's purpose is to remove the player from the puck. First, where is the puck in relation to the dark player? It's not w/ the him, and you can see that white is lining dark up. THIS IS NOT A LEGAL HIT, and It's more than roughing too. I agree that just b/c glass was broken doesn't determine a penalty, if it was LEGAL, but the actions BEFORE this hit do warrant penalties.
