This documentary is on Storer College and its role in civil rights. Storer College was established in Charles Town, W.Va., after the Civil War to primarily serve African-Americans. In 1906, W.E.B. Dubois led the Niagara Movement to Storer College. It was the group's first meeting on American soil. The Niagara Movement led to the creation of the NAACP.
"The Cornerstone of Freemdom" was produced by Bob Wilkinson of West Virginia Public Broadcasting. It first aired March 22, 2007, on the program "Outlook."

  • Thanks. Live only a few miles from Harper's Ferry and never knew about the school or the movement. Very enjoyable and educational.
