@englishdave250 some of the medieval and baroque stuff is just as 'unsafe' as this. It's all a matter of how deep one has their head up their own ass. ;)
Pardon, but it's not a stupid and chaotic sequence of the rythm, or etc. This is avant-garde in the music and especially this direction in the art of composers like Gubajdulina, Schnittke, Denisov, etc all these modes are full of religious symbols. So, first one should be know better the world, life, thoughts and works of them, than try to speak and fix his position and ideas
The thing about post classical music is simply this, can it be reproduced? If so, then why cant it be music. As for those who say "this is not music" then stick with your 16th 17th 18th and 19th century stuff, your "safe" classical music.
Oh course this is music, and very powerful and well thought out. I don't understand how you could think otherwise. Gubaidulina is my favorite composer working today. I'd love to here her recent concerto for accordion and orchestra.

this is not music... this should be seen as sound -sculptures ! Architectural sound-masterpiece at high level.
