Thanks! I have been struggling with one of these for the last half hour! The video was short and concise, just what I needed.

Good Video! Thanks Guys!

Awesome , I bought one at HD and could figure out how to cinch the strap. No instructions. Thanks for the video.

Good video, he just needs to use a tool to release the tension rather than bare hands and fingers

The worst "how to" I've ever seen.
We never see the release lever!

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I, too, did not take-up the slack before racheting and ended up with too much strap on the spool. I did not have a third hand, so I used needle nosed vice-grips to hold the release level open, then pryed the strap, using a screw driver to pull the strap loose. One bandaid later, I was back in business. (The vice-grips bit me.)

@agmcontainer but the helper risks getting popped in the face by the strap and theratchet owner get slapped with a frivilous ratchet liability lawsuit as well as the manufacturer then pop goes the weasel.

Is there a video out there that can show me how to release my already wound too tight axle. I don't have much upper body strength and it seems these tools are only made for men. I got it to move a pinch...rediculous.

@muckrak3r I did the same thing with the ratchet, and then after finally getting frustrated enough to look it up on the internet, I felt so foolish for not just realizing to do this [Facepalm]
my strap is already wound up fully tight around the axil and am wondering how to release the strap from the axil. This means i cannot release the strap to seperate it because it is wound so tight. i pressed the release lever with no success.

You might need help to do this, a third hand so to speak. You need to press the release lever while slightly lifting the ratchet handle (a screwdriver under the handle can help by providing leverage on the handle). The helper then pulls hard on the strap to get it to overcome the friction of being wound too tight. Hope this helps!
