Already a smash hit in Germany, where Drakensang: The Dark Eye (which translates as Dragon song) is a beautifully crafted, single player role-playing game (RPG) which offers a huge and engrossing campaign plus an intuitive combat system set within the mythical medieval world of Aventuria.

Summoned by a letter from an old friend you suddenly find yourself charged with investigating a series of strange ritual murders. But getting to the bottom of this only means scratching the surface of a much bigger, more sinister plotOnly by surrounding yourself with trustworthy companions will you have a chance to prevent a dark conspiracy that threatens to change the world of Aventuria forever!

The games richly detailed environments are presented from an isometric perspective in which the player must manage a party of adventurers as they struggle to survive successive perilous encounters. From the outset Drakensang: The Dark Eye encourages the player to make as many friends as possible due, in part, to large numbers of enemies skulking in the dark corners of the city of Ferdok.

Drakensangs story has been developed by the origional The Dark Eye (TDE Germany's #1 pen & paper RPG system) authors making the world feel totally authentic. TDE players wont miss a thing, but RPG fans not familiar with TDE will dive into a medieval world that looks and feels like a trip to centuries-old Central Europe. Players will be able to explore beautiful cities built of framework houses, hunt monsters and creatures such as orks and dwarves in dark woods, search and find treasures in medieval castles and ascend the snow-capped mountains of the Kosh region, where the game takes place.

  • @HardWarUK Metro 2033 was entirely linear, short, and full of hand-holding. Oops, your argument fell apart.

  • wait wait wait... did they call the land aventuria ? -.-

  • I prefer the hardcore, PC orientated European games, like the Drakensang, series the Gothic series, Risen, the STALKER series, Metro 2033, Hard Edge, E.Y.E Divine Cybermancy, the Sacred series, the Spellforce series, Arx Fatalis, the Two Worlds series, Temple of Elemental Evil, Silverfall, the Divine Divinity series, Outcast, Boiling Point, White Gold and Precursors etc. All original, all PC only or PC first, all hardcore and non hand-holding and all different from Mass Effect, Bioshock, etc!

  • Divinity 2, Drakensang, Dragon Age Origins best RPG!! FTW!!

  • @MrMatzomaticTO actually dragon age was in project since 2004 :) yesterday i pulled out an old PC Games magazine and saw a preview of Dragon Age the game was still alpha but it was there

  • hank God for non AD&D cRPG's like Fallout and Realm's of Arkania/Drekensang: The Dark Eye games!

  • Why is it so many dumb gamers go for "bad" or "worse" than "different"?!

  • looks a bit like divinity 2 ...

  • What am I waiting for? To get a response to my closed beta application..

  • These games offer contents with many battles, less and less stories. You're sure is it RPG? Its true that most people likes exactly that: shallowness.

For example, Dragon Age 2 is worse then Dragon Age Origins cause DA2 increased the number of missions and repetitive battles.
