Indeed, he is joking.

I still prefer Johnny Carson and Ed McMahon as a team together. They really hit off together. Jerry Lewis should have half as much talent as McMahon for all of his cheap shots.

I am so glad I was born in '59 and grew up with the best rock music from the 50's to the 80's and became a musician because of it.But I am also thankful to have grown up in an era when the old stuff from the 30's to the 50's was still being shown on tv such as Laurel and Hardy and these greats here Jerry Lewis and Ed McMahon. The younger generation now doesn't even have a clue as to what real comedy is.Too many greats to mention but even the trash they call music can't touch the greats of yester

Spirituality is religion. The differences are as significant as those betwixt unbelievers and nonbelievers. There is no such thing as a human atheist, as we, unlike chimps & crocodiles, deny our physical needs to contemplate and research and question. Man is not of the jungle. "Atheists" are determined, nonetheless, to deny the uniqueness and importance of Man in order to enslave him. Especially since science is in large part tax-funded, we taxpayers deserve accountability and results.

The elevation of scandals that involve people like Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton to front-page stories is a by-product of the breakdown of civility in American society.
Now, here's a question for you. .. Who was one of the "pioneers" in the breakdown of civilty in the American culture? Think now! Who burst on the scene in the 50s acting like a maniac, walking around like a spastic and expecting people to consider that funny, insulting people left and right onstage and on his telethons?

@JubalCalif Thank you and yes Ed was a true man he will be missed take care =)

What a wonderfully heartwarming story! THANKS for posting! A lot of people dont' know Ed was a a US Marine and fighter pilot during WWII. Even though he was in ill health, I can see why he wanted to continue to help out at the annual MDA telethon. He was a big hearted guy. One wonders that he REALLY thought of Jerry's constant put downs. I know they were part of his "schtick" but I never found them amusing.

@zandercy42 "Slamming" is basically American slang for "criticising" or "insulting".
