The Neil Merryweather band doing the Byrds - Eight miles High.

Merryweather is a Canadian born bass player, vocalist, arranger who's musical high points were the albums Space Rangers, Kryptonite and Word of Mouth. Best described as Psychedelic Rock, this band did not receive the notoriety it deserved.

  • Thanks everyone for your kind comments!

  • @HUNDREDWATTHEAD Neil! we love your work man!

  • Just listened to the whole album again today. This version is in another stratosphere! Neil and band out do the original in my opinion!

  • @PadreMDB Its rare that a great song is covered by an even better version. Joe Cockers version of She came in through the bathroom window comes to mind. No doubt that the Merryweather version of 8 Miles high falls into this category.

  • The singlemost greatest version of this song i ever heard. I used to play it at WOFM Magic 92.1 in Hampton Roads VA in the 80s when i was a rock jock there.

  • @MasterStormstayla You will get no argument outa me ;-D

  • Amazing, beautiful track, smokin' drummer!!

  • Symphonic Slam tune "Universe" seems to be a copy of Neils tune "King of Mars"... listen and see what you think...'universe' supposedly was released in 1976, was there any problems with it back then?

  • I bought the Kryptonite LP and wore it out.

Got most of it off the internet years ago, but don't have an extensive slelection of Merryweather's stuff. Really dug it back then. ... I did email Timo once, got his side of things. Cool guy.

  • @FreudsC4t found it here on YT watch?v=EB3ucFLUBiw

  • BEST REMAKE OF THIS SONG EVER. OR DID THEY DO IT FIRST
