Tull went into tax exile in (I think) Switzerland briefly before giving it up and going home. This would have been just before APP during the Chateau D'isaster recordings that later became War Child.

Great work! I have been suge a huge Tull fan from the beginning. This music has had a direct link to my brain from repeated listening over the years. Hearing it again & seeing it reminds me of so many superlative moments from my treasured past. I commend you for sharing this.

@JesseP11 I don't think they ever went resident in the US, but they did spend a lot of time touring there early 70s and UK fans used to complain about not getting to see them.

@jmharrison51 I remember reading that APP went to #1 in the US while only going to #17 in the UK in the charts. I think they briefly lived in the US at one time to spite the UK?

Thank you very much - it's also a great job on video editing

Yeah Ian has some pretty caustic/sarcastic lyrics about the church and organized religion, critics, corporate society etc.
Nicely done as well, I love listening to the lyrics.
The guy was before his time.

Paul, as always a perceptive comment. I watched a programme last night on UK TV about the history of British prog rock. JT got a mention, mostly about Thick as a Brick - but the programme missed one vital point. JT was never about instrumental showing off; it was and is about a superbly gifted song writer with a wonderful talent for melody whose creative output over 40+ years contains more truly great songs than anyone else who springs to mind right now. He's not bad on flute or guitar either.

Not really trying too hard. One thing that I've noticed looking at som amny Tull concert films on YouTube and going to gigs since 1974, is that Tull always put on that much more of a show in the U.S. than in the UK - so maybe they were trying harder, for those extra bucks :-)
Jethro Tull was awesome........Passion Play was a fantastic Concert !!!!!!!!!!

You're right, the critics slammed this album in 1973... even though it's clearly a masterpiece.
It was mostly a political thing because Ian was at war with the critics even before "A Passion Play" came out. The critics didn't like Ian because they thought he was being too smart for his own good. They felt threatened by his intellect. Ian often challenged them... as in the song "Only Solitaire," which was written BEFORE "A Passion Play" came out.
The critics didn't like to be "criticized". Ha!
