This is a prototype of my multi-colored interactive LED modules. The modules are 9 inches square. 16 pixels comprise each board. 4 each of red, green, blue LEDs comprise each pixel, plus 2 IR emitters and 2 IR receivers per pixel.

The modes of operation are purely experimental and are meant to demonstrate how multi-colored applications of proximity sensing can further deepen the experience.

everything is programmed in AVRstudio4 using C.

  • Great Work !!! ... hey why didnt u use tri-color leds? any special reason ? :)

  • @kalsara001 yup, the LEDs are driven by tlc5940 chips and I have 4 LEDs per color driven by each pin of that chip. Kinda awkward to explain, but it works out better and safer for the LEDs to be driven by a high voltage that drops to almost nothing by the time it gets to the TLC5940. More efficient, I think. Looks a bit weird though I realize

    Thanks for watching!

  • hiya, please help me, i'm trying to do this on a tshirt? can this be done? maybe with a smaller panel?

  • What frequency of you emitting from the IR emitters?

  • make a dance floor! :P

  • i saw a related video with out the table enclosing but how much was your total cost $ with making this. i want to make one myself

  • Love all the progresses! Great job, I'm trying to build something similar, maybe one day I will send you a video! ;)

At the end how much did you spend for a module? About 50$?

  • I would love to see the code! Great work.

  • @grahmaustin

Is there anyway that you could explain the Tlc5940 setup you have going? I've been looking everywhere for a decent explanation!
