  • Great! How did you find De Majo's portrait? And this is a promissed one by El Greco!!

    Thank you for sharing!!

    Why does this piece has such a happy taste, but this is a song of Calvario?

    I think it's not a debut of Bertagnolli on your channel, but touched by her voice: a real gem!

  • Google image search :P

    As for the "happy taste" - to me it seems to go

    back and forth between "happy" and "sad".

  • This composer once again! Talk about rare gems!! =)

    I googled his name, but didn't really get much other than him being the composer of a three-act opera titled "Alessandro". Man, I wish I had amazing Google-ninja skills. =(

  • There's more on the way.

    But yes, there's not much info out there - not even an article on English Wikipedia.

  • 'Di rendermi la calma': Erisenna's aria from act II 'is an amazing bravura aria clocking at almost 10 minutes of coloratura fireworks ala 'Ana de Amicis' magnitude! :-) And yes this very melodic, galante aria has a 'baroqueish' nostalgia to it, and has poignant sweeps of bittersweet arduousness, depicting the inevitability of the text telling of Christ's destiny towards ultimate sacrifice.

    {*I do wish the tempo would have been slightly slower as Roberta Invernizzi's rendition portrays}

  • I listened to this in 2006 in Rome and it was wonderful! Fabio Biondi conducted and there was Ian Bostridge, too.

  • Gemma! Thank you so much!
