Parenti is da man. Just got Contrary Notions. Great read. Everyone talks about Chomsky and that's cool. I prefer Parenti. He has a warmer sense of humor and a more passionate delivery. Reasoned rage at injustice.

Why do you define yourself through the left/right paradigm Mr. Parenti? You are an INCREDIBLY intelligent man, and I know you see the hidden hand. I hope you have changed your self-definition since the resurgence of the left in the past 3 years. Both parties work for the same class. Oh, and poster, thanks. A LOT. @emotionalinvalid true. true. I like Tarique Ali as well. He carries himself with a little more class than most. I think I'm a closet fan of Anglophile oratory (and Huey Lewis and the News). Greg Palast, John Pilger, Seymour Hersh, Naomi Klien, and Russ Baker ain't too shabby neither.

@enwurds in total agreement. chomsky, zinn, et al are also correct naysayers to the faulty, supposed fair accepted dichotomy(either/or) of views: "conservative celebration" or "liberal complaint". But Parenti's common, nyc working class delivery is more effective: the third view that is left out: " a radical analysis". Also Tarique Ali is an effective public speaker for social democracy. Chris Hedges would be good but he comes across severe. He needs a little humor when speaking.

@maidenkid84 -- Yeah Chomsky is only the worlds leading expert on linguistics. MIT professor for almost 40 years. Written almost 100 books and considered to be one the most important living intellectuals who's lectures are booked up a year in advance .

He sure can't compare to punk like you who talks out of his dumb ass.

@canaan1967 I'm enjoying some Naomi Klein right now. Good stuff. She also brings the added bonus of being much easier on the eyes than either Chomsky or Parenti. Beauty and brains, you gotta love it.
