My grandparents came from Kalusz Galicia when it was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. I want to visit LVIV.  My heritage calls me home.

Poles are now a tiny minority in Lviv and western Ukraine.

Most Poles left for Poland after WWII. They chose not to stay and build the USSR --or Ukraine.

In Lviv (formerly Lwow, Lvov, Lemberg), Poles are only about 1 percent of the city's population. Many Poles intermarried with Ukrainians and Russians. Immigration has also diluted the former Polish presence.

Thus centuries of Polish colonialism in Ukraine is almost completely undone.

What a beautiful city! It has the best coffee in the world and its architecture and people are simply incredible. L'viv is one of the greatest Ukrainian tourist cities.
