@gremlinextreme101 xCode is probably the only IDE I heard of for Mac besides some weird Pascal IDE.
I've had a Vista Compaq brand new out of the box and it worked fine. Still works now that I have 7,
never shut it down either. Many of your problems are due to running poorly made software by third parties, or got a cheap PC.

Mac offers xCode so u can easily write new software on the mac. The software is written for the hardware, \so it is optimized, final cut would run better on a mac than any pc of a comparative price. This video is biased, you really need to learn the facts, ive been using macs for years, the laptops will last a good 5-6 years before their hardware becomes a limiting factor a pc will last maybe 2-3 depending on whether you choose to upgrade to vista (which has made a 6 month sony laptop unusable)

if you want to play games why not buy something dedicated to playing games, like an xbox or a ps3. The games on either of those would require a v.expensive computer.

Yes, but macs are the freebsd operating system, so it is MUCH more stable than pc, by fact. All mac os X is is freebsd with a pretty gui.
