I've flown Air NZ on 747s from LHR.Too bad they are replacing them with 777s so my next trip to NZ will be on a 777-200ER :(

@mcpcshowcaseHD It is also possible that it flew from Auckland via San Francisco

@StOrmZIsoNItZWaY The 747 usually comes from Auckland via LA whilst the 777 comes from Auckland via Hong Kong.

i hope that they don't get rid of the 747 soon in the next years!!!
cam9408 2 years ago
I hope not too but all of the airlines that have currently got the A380 on order intend to replace their existing 747 fleet with them. The good news is that Boeing is currently developing the Boeing 747-8I which is a stretched, re-winged, re-engined variant replacement for the 747-400 so she may not be finished just yet!

Where abouts in Heathrow is this place for plane spotting??
qantas476 3 years ago
This was filmed from the Heathrow Academy building just off the Northern Perimeter Road. It's a great place to view but an even better place is from Myrtle Avenue to the south of the airport. Here you can see the planes fly over head which is great. I have a lot of videos of airlines landing/taking off from here including Singapore Airlines / Emirates A380, Qantas 747 and many more.
Thanks for the comment!

Hey thanks. That video of Emirates A380 landing at Heathrow, is that Myrtle Ave? If so, how do you get there? Will be in London in May and would like to check it out.
qantas476 3 years ago
Yeah it is Myrtle Avenue. The best way to get there is via the Tube to Hatton Cross station. From there it is about a 10 minute walk. If you go on Google Maps, do a search for Heathrow and then put in directions from Hatton Cross - Myrtle Avenue. It's dead easy to find. You should also check the Heathrow Alternation table at the Heathrow website as this runway is used at specific times when planes are landing in a westerly direction.
