Lay me down gently, lay me down low,
I fear I am broken and won't mend, I know.
One thing I ask when the stars light the skies,
Who now will sing me lullabies,
Oh who now will sing me lullabies.

In this big world I'm lonely, for I am but small,
Oh angels in heaven, don't you care for me at all?
You heard my heart breaking for it rang through the skies,
So why don't you sing me lullabies,
Oh why don't you sing me lullabies.

I lay here; I'm weeping for the stars they have come,
I lay here not sleeping; now the long night has begun.
The man in the moon, oh he can't help but cry,
For there's no one to sing me lullabies,
Oh there's no one to sing me lullabies.

So lay me down gently, oh lay me down low,
I fear I am broken and won't mend, I know .
One thing I ask when the stars light the skies,
Who now will sing me lullabies,
Oh who now will sing me lullabies.

Who will sing me to sleep
Who will sing me to sleep
Who will sing me to sleep
Who will sing me to sleep

  • @MrAodhfionn No, it's a glochenshebiel. It's not metallic enough to be a Xylophone. And there is also a mandolin :)

  • Mandolin and double bass. Accordion also.

  • This was in a music exam too:') I grows on you!:') <3

  • What instruments are used in this? I can hear guitar, violin and Xylophone

  • beautiful song <3

  • Saw her tonight, and this song never fails to make me emotional. Beautiful, beatiful...she makes me proud to be a Yorkshire lass!

  • @SDG1750 apparently a very good friend of hers died and she wrote it about missing him terribly, so sad :( x

  • do you know the story behind this song? I am just curious. It's soo sad, I want to cry.

  • @thatrandomcrazyguy Haha :) We did a mock of that paper today <3

  • If you have not been to a Kate Rusby concert you should. If is a wonderful experience. It has been said before but there is nothing but praise for this wonderful Yorkshire lass who sings about her experiences and also rekindles old songs not heard for centuries. The people who have any thing to do with Kate Rusby are the nicest people on the planet, I like this environment
