Worried about the future? You're not alone but it doesn't mean you're going to have start loading the family up in a truck and go pick grapes in California like John Steinbeck's Joad family in The Grapes of Wrath. What it does mean, though, is that even in a recession some communities will fare better than others. And it's not necessarily just the rich ones. What will be most important will be to find communities where the local economy will be relatively unscathed. That means that in the near term people who work in critical fields such as health care and education are likely to enjoy greater job security than those who work in sectors such as financial services or construction. That does not mean these communities will be recession-proof, but it does mean they may be hurt less than others. So where are these communities?

Many of these are in high tax , high COL areas. Orange Co. Is suffering badly. Can 5 million people work in a few hospitals? People are escaping California in droves.
This California native escaped to the SLC area. House prices are affordable and stable. unemployment is low, taxes are low, health-care costs are low, living standards are high. In fact there are no signsof a "bad economy".
This economy is stronger than early 80's mess left by Jimmy Carter. Obama is making same mistakes.

I left California 10 years ago, and I don't regret it. You can buy 2 homes almost anywhere else for the price of 1 in CA - AND you get a big front/back yard, and you can't hear what your neighbors are doing or what they're talking about. I was in SLC about 3 months ago. It is very clean. I was impressed! Since the time I did this video, I'm sure the stats have changed some.

How much did these cities pay you to put their name on the list?
Good idea to make money in this hard times, so good on you.

I didn't get paid a single cent to make this video. I wish! I sure could use the money, more than you could imagine. I did it to help people. I guess you like it?

I was actually thinking about moving to Australia about a year ago, before the markets crashed. I think it would still be fun to do that. I love Aussies. New Zealand might not be bad either. Wouldn't know though - never been to either place. Hoping to make it there some day.
