On Friday 1 April 2011 the Committee to Support the Rights of Sufis and Students in Iran, the International Organization to Preserve Human Rights in Iran together with Amnesty International France invited the citizens and visitors of Hannover to support the action A FACE FOR HUMAN RIGHTS IN IRAN by having a picture taken of their face. Every face is a symbol of freedom and a demand for the respect of human rights for the people of Iran. During the action special attention was focused on the demand of the immediate release of Mehdi Karoubi , Fatameh Karoubi, Hossein Moussavi and Zahra Rahnavard.
The action started in July 2009 in Venlo in The Netherlands and by now thousands of people from The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Denmark, Sweden and the UK have joined in the action.
From 5 March 2011 France has been added to this list of countries.
Through these series of actions we would like to let the Iranian people know that they support them in their struggle for freedom and the respect of human rights. At the same time we keep informing the European society and its politicians about the crimes against human rights in Iran.
We sincerely thank the citizens of Strasbourg for their genuine concern and engagement.
