to eadgbe308: I don't see why it wouldn't work - in fact, from what I understand this works on many other Chrysler products although the actual test varies a bit. The same process works on my 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and I've read that the first-generation Sebrings (1996 - 2000) had a similar feature. Even my friend's old 1989 Dodge Caravan had a electronic test - turn it on and off 5 times, and a dash light would flash a code pattern (usually 5 flashes, pause, 5 flashes: no errors found).

Hold in the little button that resets the trip odometer. Stick in the key and turn it to the RUN position (do not start the car). I haven't done it in a while but I think that's all there is to it.

testing the instrument cluster for faults, is my guess... this is something a dealer might do to ensure that all the light bulbs and gauges are functioning. Of course, gauges could still be reporting incorrect information depending on their input (faulty fuel sending unit, car wheels off the ground, etc.) but this test would rule out the gauge itself.
