broadcast from President Franklin Roosevelt on the occasion of the Normandy landings of June 6, 1944, appealing to Providence for success.

"My fellow Americans.... in this poignant hour, I ask you to join with me in prayer. 'Almighty God, our sons, the pride of our nation, this day have set upon a mighty endeavour: a struggle to preserve our republic, our religion, and our civilisation.... Thy Will Be Done... Amen.'"

  • @eduardalet Reagan was the last great one but I'll forgive you. FDR was mediocre at best but gets way too much credit for this. They had to add an amendment to the Constitution to put an end to FDR so he couldn't have been that great or they would have wanted him back for a 5th term.

  • One of the greatest Presidents and statesmen in American history.

  • Thanks
