We can always keep on hoping for improvement in consumers' interests in games with great storytelling and creative ideas... But most likely there will be many games falling into the dark oblivion without even getting it's moment in the light, lot like Mother (or Earthbound)...
the best bad ass first person shooter with a bad ass story halo..... really just look its a really good story so many things in the trilogy and the game is like the best game ever!!!
I loved psychonauts, anyone who hasn't played this game, do yourself a favor and buy it off of xbox live (under xbox originals).
Oh and if you have a gamecube (or wii) get a game called killer 7, it might not have the best game play but it has a story like no other that makes up for it (though you'll probably be confused after playing it)

It's not a random statement. Writers working in the game industry tend to suck. Any problems they have with writing are caused by their own inability to write well. Writing quality used to be much, much higher than it is today.
