My dad has been in and out of jail all my life.Throughout my life i've always been attracted to guys older than me. Like when I was 17 I was with a 24 year old, 19 with a 32 year old. Those relationships were toxic and I now realize I was trying to give myself the father figure I never had. Now that i'm 22 I see I rely too much on having a male presence in my life. He's back in jail because he chose money over family. I've taken on his role as breadwinner. I can't forgive him. I tried.

@pandekrah: I feel you, you can't force yourself to forgive.But wow.... I've never even attempted to date anyone yet... But I never really thought of women dating older men nearly seeing them as a father figure. Wow. That's deep.... But keep doing you though!!!

I can relate sister....except there are no bar separating my dad from me......it's his own choice that has us separated. All I know is to make the change for my children and so far I have chosen a great man to marry and build a family with. I pray that my father and I can one day have some kind of connection but if that never happens....I wont lose sleep. Im 24 years old and I've decided that life goes on.

haha i ment to say pray for me in jesus name, because im excited after all these yrs well since my 2nd bday hes been in prison and im glad to my dad made a point to be connected with me. he is due to get out within the next 2 months. I thank God you are making progress in you and your dads relationship, keep praying and believing there will be a dad when u will both b together

smh..i dunno what else to say about absent parents its even worst when you have a brother from another mother and both of you share the same dad..smh my brother was really trippin because he thought my dad favored me more than him when that was not the case at all we are like grown now and have kids and are both married he he just got over it like a month ago from yers upon yrs of hurt. i dont believe dads should be in jail either.it is what it is to me..my dad is getting out :) pray 2me

You made valid points. Great job. I see daily happenings premature of sexual activity every day. And when I look at the young woman's background, they lack a real Dad. And you are correct, there is a deference between Daddy/Uncle/Cousin. Real biological dads are priceless.
