Everybody knows that the issue is not that there isn't enough food to go around (and if there weren't, growing animals for food requires much more resources than growing plants, so meat production would be the first to go). No matter how many pigs we slaughter, it's not going to feed the homeless. The issue is much more complex.

After all, the homeless have all the equal rights and means to defend themselves in the society of humans compared to other humans - animals don't.

I was right there with ya with feeding that pig to the homeless guy, although a hammer might be a teeny bit extreme - but yeah, I totally agree, the pig would be out of the cage (and out of its misery) and homeless people could eat - for fuck sake it's just too logical!!

For the benefit of those who didn't make the connection, the meat industry does have to do with global warming. They clear a lot of forest and put off a lot of emissions through producing and transporting their product. And I'm not saying it's wrong to eat animals but they are, in fact, treated horrifically.

But yes, she should care about homeless people too.
