This is my first ever New Moon video, and I hope you enjoy it. I still need to improve in a lot of ways when it comes to manipping, but it was fun to make this video despite my less than spectacular skills! It's a lot better than my original New Moon video; about a month ago, I attempted to make a New Moon trailer, and it was honestly terrible! While this video is by no means amazing, it's definitely a big improvement. I'd upload the trailer to prove it, but I am THAT embarrased by it, lmao.
I am not sure how I feel about this video yet. It took about a week to edit, which is actually a lot for me, because I have the tendency to complete projects in two days at the most. This one required a bit of planning, though. I kept going back over what I'd edited and changing things or eliminating sequences entirely. It originally started out as a general New Moon video, but I had a lot of issues with getting Jacob to fit, and in the end, I got bored with the "chronological" set-up. So many vidders can do it brilliantly, but because I'm really impatient when it comes to manips, I just couldn't vid the whole book. So in the end, it came down to just Edward and Bella.
It's not a chronological video at ALL, as you can see from the cliff-diving intro. New Moon is a really depressing book and the emotions are just so chaotic. I thought it'd be fun to experiment with that by making a New Moon montage rather than a New Moon rehash, if that makes sense. I just wanted to throw their feelings out in a burst of different colours and what not. Clips tinted with blue and red are generally moments where there's hope or happiness; black and white represents either the zombie period or moments where Edward and Bella miss each other; the yellowish and greenish clips are almost entirely specific to the forest scene, with few exceptions. The only time the forest is represented in blue and red is during the beginning where Bella's awake and thinking about it; the forest is purplish and hazy, because I wanted to express that idea of remembering things differently than how they happened, if that makes sense!
I also unconsciously didn't show a full shot of Edward's face until about halfway through the video where Bella's leaving for Italy. I don't know WHY I did this, but once I realized I'd made that mistake, I didn't go back and fix it because it kind of reminded me of the book and how she only refers to Edward as "him" until she hears his voice again. It's kind of sad, LOL, and definitely the longest I've gone without Edward. I don't know how you New Moon vidders do it, rofl.
There's one really strange part that was a much better idea as I was editing it, but now that I watch back, I'm not so sure it came out right. The part I'm talking about is the beat sequence that follows "don't want to hear you tell me why I should stay". It was supposed to be this explosion of Edward's happy memories as he ponders the reasons why he should stay with Bella (thus the right-hand shot of him awake while she's sleeping, like the "right and wrong" scene). It didn't have the desired effect, but BAH, can't fix it now. :(
Everything else in the vid is divided between two things: one, an actual canon New Moon moment (like the forest, Bella imagining Edward's presence as she approaches some Port Angeles dudes, the race to Volterra). And two, a moment I could imagine taking place in the New Moon timeframe; the Cullens trying to convince Edward to stay, among others.
As I said, I really wasn't going for vidding the entire book, so a lot of the prominent things, such as Jacob and the werewolves, aren't included. I wanted to make this about Edward/Bella and the theme of leaving. The quote at the end of the vid, "it's him, it's always been him", was said by Kristen Stewart in a recent interview. I really loved it, so I wanted to include it. This is the full excerpt, if you're curious:

[On how Jake pulls Bella out of her depression, but everything still comes back to Edward:] "Like, I cant wait to see Taylor's (Lautner) face when I tell him, 'It's him, it's always been him' she says with an audible shiver. "Shes getting older," says Kristen. "Over the course of these four movies, she has to become a formidable partner, because in the end, and I don't think I'm ruining anything here, they end up together. And in the first one, hes very much a man and shes very much a child and she has to become more of a formidable partner."

EDIT: This description is much too long now but I just wanted to add one last thing -- a big huge thank you to Nickles/RubberDuckInc for helping me with so many sequences! Woo!
Anyway, I think that's all I have to say! I'll post some download links here too. :D I may vid New Moon again someday, but for now, here's my little attempt!
well done
