You know in the 80s we called these guys Metal. That's what they were. Metal now means incoherent screaming. I guess to this generation it's 'glam'. Lame if you ask me.

I find this song to not only be timeless from a composition standpoint, but shockingly prophetic and prescient given the de facto state of war the U.S. has been in since 1990 with much of the rest of the world. If you really dig into Kip's writing, he's quite a perceptive guy especially given the horse blinders most of the rest of the world has concerning his early music. I don't get it...why isn't this guy a megastar like Springsteen?

3 interesting links for this music video come to my mind... with this similar thematic:

    a) Hawkwind "We Took the Wrong Step Years Ago" an unnoficial fan video (music from 1972)

    b) Asia "Who Will Stop the Rain?" another fan video (music from 1992)

    c) Alain Souchon "Et si en plus y'a personne" (official music video from 2005) This is a rarity in pop... a popular french song with meaningful words... this is so bright & melancholic at the same time , with so soul deep lyrics...

This is truly a profound and poignant song that proves to be timeless. Winger as a band has been and the individual bandmates have been severely underrated over the years. A damn shame because Kip is multi-talented...plays bass, 6-string, 12-string, and piano, great lyricist & composer. And if you watch some of the early videos, the man has some moves...very limber. And Reb Beach is one helluva lead guitarist. They were and remain to be a genuinely great band.

I'm not the biggest fan of acoustic guitar, but this does it right and well. I once heard a guy at a music store I use to frequent when I was 19 say this was "the worst of the glam bands." I listen to their music and wonder what the hell he was talking about. These guys could/can play and actually write amazing songs.

Just goes to show who runs the show in america.

Just because he had the temerity to sue MTV and Mike Judge over Beavis and Butthead copyright infringing his name, ...

Kip can't get the time of day in this country.

    What a shame.

Here it is August 9, 2012 and this is the first time I've seen this video. It's a definite statement. A nice change from the earlier videos...which I still like; but this song and video are profound and full of meaning. It is appealing to music lovers like me when a song (band or individual) takes a stand on issues or causes. It's refreshing because it allows us to see our favorite singers/bands as real people who have true concerns/feelings, not just party animals.

Much better band than they ever got credit for. The songs "Seventeen" and "Can't Get Enough" soiled their reputation irreversably. The Pull CD was their best and Kip's solo stuff is brilliant, check out My Resurrection, Endless Circles, and Here, among others. This man is one hell of a talent who can write music of far greater depth and intelligence than most casually familiar with his band could ever fathom. "Seventeen" didn't even scratch the surface of what were capable of...
