10-year-old Filipino boy converts to Islam - March 30, 2008

The cast of The Message and Women in Islam had been to Antipolo City by one of our avid listeners on the radio to witness her 10-year-old nephew embrace Islam. This boy is the ONLY Muslim in his family. He decided to follow Islam since age NINE! He has been studying prayers and reading the Qur'an for only three months and can already lead the prayer. He chose the name "Bilal" for himself.
Insh'Allah we pray for Allah (SWT) the cherisher and sustainer of all things to bring more men and women to Islam throughout these Islands. If it is Allah's will, we ask that we may be witness to more of these beautiful events.

there should be a parental consent at these ages. if the boy would 18 then i would understand that he converted. and the boy should attend doctrine classes for him to understand. even muslim who convert to the christian faith passes through stages of discernment and long study as well as prayer.

You're assuming that he did not.

Actually this boy (on his own accord) went to the local Mosque and learned about Islam from the people there. He tuned into our radio programs by his own choice and went to the lady's house (where this was filmed) on his own to study Qur'an with her children (they are a Muslim family).

This boy CHOSE Islam.. he sought out information and asked us to witness his formal confession of faith.

I'd say the boy proved himself able to reason.

I do wish that Filipinos on both sides would put down decades and centuries old struggles that were created by foreigners and work together for the advancement of the Philippines.

This is a good nation with good people and it could be a powerful and independant nation if the people would unite and stop allowing socio-economic colonialism to dominate the mindset.
