  • @ Gregoryagogo:

It truly was like we see in this Kodachrome footage! As you put it, a different world entirely! Watching this footage almost makes me cry. American's used to take pride in doing their best, now we try and do our least... no wonder things aren't working! Things are manufactured to burn out faster, cheaper to replace than to fix. That's why in our house hold, it's 1935-1945, today's junk don't last like the old stuff! And it ain't nearly as pretty as the old stuff! :-)

  • Like wow, was it REALLY 'like that?'.. Like another planet!

Such awesome footage! See, it was all established and pretty and working, then they started messing things up...when? Late '50s?

  • Is this Chicago? I could watch (and listen) to this all day! Fascinating.Well done J.P.

  • Still dancing to this today, and will do at all our 40s dances

  • The song was recorded on August 20, 1941. This footage (from a Jam Handy "commercial film") was taken a bit later, probably around 1942 [the Prestone billboard at 1:59 has a disclaimer at the bottom- "Help Defense. Don't Waste Anti-Freeze"- which was a familiar slogan during World War II...and civilian automobile production ceased during the summer of '42 {Cadillac ad at 1:53}]. War Bonds [aka Defense Bonds], 'xrayy', were sold the same way as Savings Bonds are today....

  • Super '40s

Elegant girl in 2:53 in light green suit and burgundy hat...great and:

girl in 1:26 in violet skirt coming and talking with kids...she jumps over the screen.

So...is there anybody who could explain me how War Bonds worked?

  • i am doing a dance to this

and i love the song so much!

  • SO WONDERFUL BORN TOO LATE

  • Thank you!

  • your welcome .
