shredded white bread????? I am a wildife rehabber and I work at a center. I am sorry, but bread is the worst diet a duck or goose should ever have esp when sick or injured!!!! I would love to know exactly who told you this! At best, I can have the Director of my center contact them, but that is so out of the ordinary for anyone working with wildlife to tell you to feed a goose bread! Toxicity actually requires a special charcol mix that we prepare. Could you please email me personally? Thx

Shredded bread is fine for a day. There is nothing toxic in it (although some breads identified as "double fiber" or "high fiber" may have added inulin-- a polysaccharide made only by arid plants and not normally eaten by waterfowl). Bread is a digestible source of calories although it lacks several nutrients which would become a problem after several days on an all- bread diet.

This young girl is a Holy Child. She has compassion in her heart and acts upon it.

What a special child (and dad)! Kudos to you both for your compassion! I especially like that your daughter respectfully refers to the goose as "she," instead of "it," as so many so-called grown-ups do. She would make a great rehabber or vet!

@comfyfur You definitely know what you are doing. I used to rescue animals when I was young too.

Hi again!
Thank you for working with wildlife. I have been feeding my goose, duck and goose pellet now as you recommended. Since she/he has "angel wing" I have been informing people about how bad feeding them bread is now.
The goose thanked her big time with the tail shake at 3:30
Very nice vid

your daughter needs to work with wildlife! It totally comes natural to her. Your goose looks to have had some type of spinal trauma. That was very sweet of you to do. Yo can also contact a wildlife rehabber. She was not severe..but she could have used meds and the proper diet. How long was catch to release if you dont mind me asking? :)

The issue was actually something toxic the bird ate. According to the wildlife services, which I did contact, it had something to do with the water being low. We followed their advice and fed the bird shredded white bread with water. The bird recovered overnight.
