21 year old Amy is disguising herself as a boy. Using her brother's nickname and a fake last name (Andy Matthews) she has been in hiding from her brother's killer, Liberty Valance, since she was 16. For two years she has lived in a small western town and has gained the towns' trust. When the Cowboys ride into her town Johnny Ringo, thinking she's a young boy who'd make a good Cowboy, offers her a red sash. After agreeing she leaves the town with the Cowboys, but doesn't realize what she's gotten herself into until later.
After arriving in Tombstone a group of men offer to help her escape the Cowboys, in return she had to help to bring the men to justice. Before she's able to make her decision her past returns. Liberty Valance rides into town and recognizes her, Andy's secret - that she's really a woman named Amy - becomes known to all. Liberty Valance swears to keep his promise that he will one day kill her. Will the Cowboys, especially Ringo, forgive and forget and help her stand against her brother's killer? Or will she fight the gunslinger on her own?
