@LivingInEnvy Btw what do you think the job market is like for someone with an MS in Chemistry (ACS certified) and possible job market conditions for someone graduating in 2018? I read some forums about chem graduates and I got really discouraged because they said they couldn't find jobs or their salary sucked.

@coolsteven2 Yeah you don't have to be an engineer to make a really decent living :) Chemists make good starting out and even better when they are experienced. My own teacher and family member both worked for the government using bees as biological and chemical warfare and uses. Made out nicely from it.

@LivingInEnvy I looked more into it, and I didn't think an entry level chemist or a Chemist i would get paid that much and I was nicely surprised O_O. I was like Good Money(40k~60k) + Things I like to do = Gold.

@coolsteven2 Yeah, all engineering is mainly the engineering principles with a bit of whatever you specify in. Chemistry sounds more suited to you :) Chem. Engineers help make new drugs, help build nuclear reactors even, and stuff like that.
-
@LivingInEnvy Thanks. I researched a little more and Chemical Engineering might not be for me since I heard Chem Engineering is Engineering with Chem (aka Chemistry isn't a big part).
-
@LivingInEnvy Also if you go for a masters in Chemical Engineering you are usually planning to teach or something of that level. Much of engineering is experience not just schooling. Many engineers are just bachelor level people specialized in one of the areas. The longer you work the better you'll look to employers. A Bachelors level worker with 5 years experience looks better than a masters level with 2 year experience.

@coolsteven2 I personally haven't entered the field yet but I've done a lot of pre-research. You still need to take the degree in engineering to be any form of engineer. Having a BS in Chemistry may help later in. What I am planning to do is get my associates in Engineering, then move on to finish my bachelors at another college to specialize in chemical engineering. With an associates I can technically be a Chemical Technician which is about 40k a year as I go to school for my BS.
-
@LivingInEnvy I have another question: how possible is it to get a BS in chemistry (the majority of schools I like don't offer ChemE) and enter a grad program for an MS in Chem. Eng?
-
@coolsteven2 They do make some things, but the main goal of the Engineer is to tell others how to make it better. But of course in order to know how to make it better, you have to be able to make it in the first place :P So it should still be fun and all good. Start off making it and learning how to make it, then you improve it. Engineers are the problem solvers of technology.

LOL xD
Awesome! Nothing better than a great geeky video

Thanks! It's probably our geekiest yet.

Can't chemical engineers raise the dead? Oh, wait, that's necromancers...

Yeah, that's a completely different engineering field.

So glad I'm not first. Means I almost have a life.
