  • hey guy you have strung the bass wrong, the strings are supposed to go around the tuner the opposite direction. The way you have them on will bend the neck and screw up the truss rod

  • I don't know what you saw but they're definitely on correctly. Must be the poor quality video - sorry!

  • if it was a Factory refin and you can prove it, YOU GOT A GOLD MINE IN YOUR LAP THERE HOME BOY.

if your were the poor nut who got it refinished you might as well cut the value in half.

Sounds good, it's amazing if you've ever played an old one you understand the craftsmanship that most of those old ones had. You'll cross a lemon here and there but old Leo knew how to make a bass.

  • It is not a Fender paint job - it is not the typical flaky cellulose paint of the era, it's polyester paint. It was refinished in England, probably in the Vox factory for sale new. And no it wan't me who had it refinished!! Yes indeed Leo was a genius.

  • I remember when Fender started using those colors, gossip tells it was due to lack ok wood quality, others say it was due to a "garage sell" of inks from a car brand in the nearbys of Leo Fender workshop. Anyway, my Fender is a 64 Jazz Bass, and no one in the world woiuld touch it. See my images of it in "behjoh" Fender Jazz Bass in you tube. Big hug. Good luck

  • Beautiful '64 Jazz. Classic 3 tone sunburst with tortoiseshell pickguard. Guard it with your life! You have some nice clips. Stanley Clarke is my no.2 favourite bass player. Top man is Jaco. I am also a sax player. Coltrane - genius!

  • Nice bass!

I have a 59 my dad bought for $200 back in 1969. I wonder how much it's worth now.

  • it doens't look like you're primarily a bass player. just making an observation from the lack of the use of your pinky :).

words cannot describe how jelous of you i am...

  • @Atheisttasylum thanks :P

  • Brits. I like the way they talk.

  • I don't play it because I don't want to do a refret..... you tool.

  • Wow, that is gorgeous! I'm green with envy. Congrats.

  • @maximu8899

Tarnation...! in Australia you have to wind it your way... because you're down under and all... just like your sinks draining clockwise... it's all part of the world balance system... when we exhale up here, you have to exhale down there... everyone knows that...LOL!

  • @maximu8899: I've alsways strung my P-bass and any other Fender bass clockwise. The difference that may occur at times is that the older tuning pegs turn clockwise to tighten the string as opposed to counter-clockwise as you'll see on most guitars and basses today.

  • @maximu8899 Up untill the late 60's P-basses had reverse "Elephant Ear" tuners.

  • YOU STRING THE BASS SO THE STRINGS ARE IN LINE WITH THE NUT GROOVES......THATS ALL THERE IS TO IT NO MATTER WHICH WAY YOU HAVE TO GO.......LOL

  • very interested to know what is the total length of this particular bass? thanks.
