It actually is the STS-116 launch. You can see the crewmembers shift forward in their seats as MECO occurs. The flashes being seen afterwards are a result of APU venting and are more visible at night. The big flash near the end of the video is ET sep.
As for the UFO, I say it's ice being lit up by the bright light generated by the RCS jet firings and APU flashes.
If its launch then it could also be the SRB, usually they flash as they detatch. If its landing then it cant be the main engines. They dont use them during landing
This does appear to be sts-116, the slowly moving dot raveling up the right front window pane is the result of moonbeams reflecting off swamp gas giving rise to thoughts of fancy...or maybe its venus. My first thought is not an extraterrestrial tracking another launch. That would be a bit boring for others who just traveled 4 light-years or more.
could be sts116 during assent but the flashes your seeing is probably all the things outside e.g. boosters , seperation, etc etc thats the only way its sts116 during accent
other paranoic....

The astronaut points to the object in the window just as it appears.

You're wrong, the light in the cabin comes from main engines,

This is 116--the flashes are likely RCS--Reaction Control System-jets firing

This is STS-116 and it is at the end of the ascent to orbit. You can see them move forward in their seats as the three main engines shut down.
