Nord C1 Combo organ with Roland sound module and live mandolin. Gary had a string missing on this mandolin. His Rigel was not close by, but he did good considering the missing string and higher action.

  • beautiful version . my gram sang this to me as a boy .now im 54 and can still hear her sing this . makes me cry hearing youplay . god is smiling and so is she. please dont ever stop playing this song . you touched my heart. others will be too. polywog690 indiana,pa. jim stewarts hometown.

  • @polywog690 Thanks for the kind words and encouragement. I am glad you enjoyed this video. It is a beautiful song.

  • What kind of camcorder are you using? Are you using a stereo mike with it, love the bass in the organ.

  • The camera is a SONY DCR-DVD810. I am not using a stereo mike. I was suprised to hear the mandolin as Gary did not have it hooked to a amp and also he had a string missing. The Nord C1 does have a good bass. I prefer the Nord C1 bass over the Hammond bass.

  • Thanks for the comment. Gary does play other instruments. Hopefully he will accompany me on other songs. He is planning on putting some video clips with mandolin and banjo on his channel which is mandopickerer. We have been practicing on some songs.

  • Sounds great

  • Thanks

  • What a beautiful scene! That dear young man will remember playing music with you for always. I'm constantly amazed how well they recall events like that. Good for you,

    Joe.

  • Thanks. When that video was taken(about 6 months ago) I didn't hardly practice and I really didn't have a desire to. Since then, I have started practicing at least 15 minutes a day, and I have been working on a few other instruments too. It's amazing how watching one 15 year old mandolin player can inspire you to actually work at playing better. Although I'm still not good, I have improved a little bit since then.

  • We want more of you and your accompanist, does he play more than the mandolin? Sounds great!
